About the Foundation
A charity that funds itself, so it can give everything away
Donors and trustees invest in income-producing assets, and one hundred percent of the income those assets earn is given to the causes the trustees have chosen.
Because the Foundation is funded by its own endowment, it runs no fundraising campaigns and asks nothing of its readers.
How the endowment works
- 01
Donors and trustees contribute capital, which is invested in income-producing assets.
- 02
The assets earn income while the capital itself stays invested and untouched.
- 03
Every rand of that income — one hundred percent — is given to the causes the trustees have chosen. Nothing is retained.
Where the income goes
The trustees choose the recipients and review the list from time to time. The new list is being settled and will be announced here.
