To All Who Are Thirsty
Boet de Vries & Letta Pretorius · 15 minute read
Today I want to bring you very, very good news.
This is a message of a Man who loves YOU very much.
He loves you so much; He desires for you only the very best in your life. He wants you to be healthy. He wants you to be rich. He doesn’t want you to suffer in any way. He doesn’t want you to have any sin. He wants to make of you a brand new person and to redeem you of everything that makes you suffer. He wants everything to be very well with you, because He loves you so much.
So, this good news that I will tell you now, is truth, because it is in the Bible.
For God so loved YOU, that He gave His only begotten Son, so that YOU, when you believe in Him, will not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but in order for the world to be saved by Him. John 3:16
This wonderful Man is Jesus, and this is how much Jesus loves YOU.
Most people have heard about Jesus, but very few really know Him. People only hear about Him, yet they don’t know Him. Now I am telling you about Jesus that you may know Him. Then He wants to do for you all the good things about which we read in the Bible; good things Jesus wants to do for you, because He loves you so much.
In Isaiah 53:6 we read: “We all strayed like sheep; each one going its own way, but the Lord put the unrighteousness of us all on Him; Jesus.”
You see, each one of us goes his own way. Each one does whatever he likes. Many of the things we are doing are causing us trouble. Then we are punished. Then you are wondering why it doesn’t go well with you.
This is only because you don’t know Jesus. If you receive and accept Jesus as Lord, as your Boss, then He makes of you a new person, and then you will only do good things like He wants for you—and for that you won’t be punished.
All of us strayed like so many sheep.
The price is paid
Suppose I visit a sheep-fold full of sheep on their way to the abattoir, and I decide to buy these sheep. I take money and pay for the sheep. I pay the price for the sheep and then I take my sheep to my farm. After paying for them, I receive a receipt, and then they are my sheep.
Then they belong to me; they are MY sheep, they won’t longer be slaughtered, because I bought them. “You are bought with a price.” (1 Corinthians 6:20)
Jesus came to this earth because He saw ALL men have strayed like sheep—all people need to go to the abattoir to be slaughtered. All have to be killed.
The death wherewith people must be killed, is hell; the second death. (Revelation 20:14, 15) This is the fire where people are going after death, (Matthew 5:22) where they are punished for eternity, with the devil and his angels and all bad people—with all those you will burn in that fire. (Matthew 25:41) This is the abattoir of which I’m speaking. That will be very, very hard!
But God loves you so very much; He doesn’t want you, or any other person to go to hell, that is why He decided to buy us for Himself.
Why does Jesus buy you? He buys you because He wants you, because He loves you. He doesn’t want you to go to the abattoir. Therefore He buys you before you are slaughtered. Then He pays the price you are worth to Him. But He doesn’t pay with money, like we know money, for you are so precious, no money on earth can pay your worth.
So He pays with His own blood!
See, because of sin all people need to go to hell, for all have sinned, YOU have sinned, so YOU need go to hell—not so? You did wrong, so you have to go to the fire, hell.
But Jesus loves you so much, He decided to take all the guilt for your sins on Him, He will bear your punishment; remember, the punishment is hell, so Jesus went to hell in your place!
Because of our transgressions He is pierced, because of our unrighteousness He is chastised; the punishment for our peace was on Him, and by His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5
“But now, once at the consummation of the ages had He been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.” (Hebrews 9:26)
“But we behold Jesus; that by God’s grace, He should taste death for everyone.” (Hebrews 2:9)
Because Jesus already did pay the price for your sins, YOU need no longer pay!
Just like you enter a shop and buy a lot of stuff, but you don’t have money to pay for it. After a while the shop makes a case against you. The law finds you guilty, and because you can’t pay, you have to go to prison. I hear about your case and I am filled with pity because you have to go to prison, so I say I will pay your debt.
Then you are free! You no longer need to go to prison. I pay your debt, receive my receipt, and you are free—you no longer have any debt, I paid it all; I have the receipt.
This is what Jesus did when He came to earth as a human being; He so loved you, He had so much pity for you, that He paid all your debt of sin. He let Himself be killed on the cross in your place and He went to hell in your place, so that you no longer need to go!
Then you are free! You no longer have any sin! Jesus paid it all!
This Jesus did for you; He bought you with His blood that day with His crucifixion! Can you see how much He loves you?
“Knowing that you were redeemed, not with corrupt things like silver or gold, from your vain behaviour handed down from your fathers; but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb, blameless and spotless.” (1 Peter 1:18, 19)
He gave His blood; He paid Himself; He was killed in your place and for your guilt. That death with which you needed to be killed, He took on Himself and He was killed in your place—and He went to hell in your place.
There in hell He burnt up all your guilt!
All sin you ever did, all wrong you did, all bad things you did, all illness you ever had, all poverty you had, all suffering you had, all of these, everything, was burnt up in hell when Jesus was burnt—in your place! In order that you need not bear it!
This is so!
“Jesus, who Himself carried our sins in His body up the cross, that we, having died to sins, might live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed.” (1 Peter 2:24)
Just see how wonderful this is; Jesus already did it in order that you need not carry it! You need no longer to be sick!
“Jesus took all our illnesses on Him and He carried all our sickness.” (Matthew 8:17)
So we are healed by His stripes. Because we are healed, we are in health, because Jesus carried our sicknesses—you need not carry it. Because He carried your guilt and debt, you need no longer pay for it.
Jesus is very good!
Because Jesus loves you so very much He went in your place—He was killed; He died on the cross so that you need not pay for your own guilt. In this way, when you strayed like a lost sheep, full of sin and sickness, He bought you for Himself. He bought you with His own blood, so now you belong to Him.
The first thing you need to do when you hear this is to admit that it is the truth.
Tell Jesus: “Yes, it is true; I did stray like a sheep that follows its own head. I am doing wrong things. I do have sin and I do have illnesses. I can see that you died for me; I see you bought me with your blood. I want to belong to you! I want to be your sheep! Jesus, I receive and accept you as my Lord!”
Tell Jesus with your mouth: “I take you as my Lord!” Whenever you take something, you have it.
Give yourself to Jesus to belong to Him as His own, because He bought you—and then you take Him! Then you give something and you receive something. You give yourself to Him, and you accept Him to come and live within you.
With that, you become a new creation
Like when you walk in the desert and you are very thirsty, but the only water you have, is a little bottle with dirty, muddy water.
Then I come around and I have a large bottle with ice-cold Coke. I ask: “Do you want some of this nice, ice-cold Coke?”
Because you are very thirsty you answer: “Yes, please, give me some of that nice cold Coke.” I say to you: “Yes, but first you need to empty your bottle; get rid of that dirty water, all of it, and I will fill your bottle with my nice, ice-cold Coke.”
Immediately you empty your bottle of that dirty water, and hold it out for me to fill with my nice ice-cold Coke, and you start drinking and quenching your thirst.
This is like you are: Your body is like that little bottle; within is your dirty, sinful life and it is good for nothing! Your whole life is dirty and full of sin.
Of course, you do know about all the sins you are doing, and you know it is wrong. Some people say they don’t have sin and they don’t do anything wrong, but this is hypocrisy—in your heart you know you are a sinner—all people are.
It is not only the sins you are doing, it is the sin you are; the sin-blood you have from Adam.
Because heaven is holy, no sin can ever enter heaven; all sin needs go to hell, and we have the sin-blood of Adam; this is the dirty, muddy water in our bottle.
Jesus is the One with the nice, ice-cold Coke and it is enough for all people on earth. He comes to you and invites you to be willing to get rid of the dirty water and receive the sweet water of life from Him.
At this very moment Jesus asks you: “Won’t you like to get rid of your dirty water and allow me to fill you with my wonderful, nice, ice-cold Coke? My water of eternal life?”
Will you do it now? It won’t help you one bit to only wash and cleanse the outside of the bottle while it stays full of muddy water! Get rid of the dirty water on the inside, to be able to receive the nice clean water of life.
Immediately you will say: “Yes, Lord Jesus, I’m pouring out all of this old dirty water, this sin-life, I don’t want it any longer! Here is my empty bottle; please take me and fill me with yourself, for you are the water of eternal life!”
Now you have poured out your dirty water, your sin-life, and now you accept Jesus by saying it to Him with your mouth. “Yes, Lord Jesus, I want that! I give myself to you unconditionally; I get rid of the dirty water of sin in my life; here is my empty bottle. I keep nothing of myself, only the empty bottle; please Jesus, fill me with yourself, with your own life. Thank you Jesus!”
Now you thank Him from the depth of your heart for giving you this wonderful gift of Himself; His own resurrection life, to come and live within you. What wonderful gift!
Remember, on the outside you are still looking just the same; the outside of the bottle looks just the same; the bottle is your body, and the body did not change.
But within that body there is no longer any dirty water; within that body there now lives the living Jesus Christ. You accepted Him, now you have Jesus and Jesus has you—He bought you on the cross and through hell, and now you are filled with Jesus!
You belong to Him!
You are one of those sheep that was bought by Jesus, so now you belong to a new owner. Now you need to have His Name on you, or else somebody might steal you away from Him.
In order to receive His brand on you, Jesus says: “Be baptised into the Name of Jesus Christ.” (Acts 2:38)
By pouring out your old sinful life and accepting Jesus as your new life, you have repented. Now you have yourself baptised into His Name: “Repent, and be baptised each of you into the Name of Jesus Christ to remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of Holy Spirit.”
Ask a disciple of Jesus Christ to baptise you. The water is the symbolism of the Name of Jesus; your body is immersed into the water, and at the same time your spirit is immersed into the Name of Jesus Christ.
The water will dry, but the Name of Jesus is like a robe all around you, it can never “dry”. “You are clothed with Christ.” (Galatians 3:27)
Now the sheep is branded with the Name of the new Boss. No devil can ever again claim you, you belong to another Man; you are safe in His Name.
Then Jesus puts you with His other sheep in His fold. Nobody—no wolf or jackal can reach Jesus’ sheep, for He Himself is our Good Shepherd; He helps and cares for us. “Nobody can pluck you from My hand.” (John 10:28)
I am the Good Shepherd. My sheep listen to my voice and I know them and they follow me. And I give them eternal life and they will never perish unto eternity, and nobody will pluck them from my hand. John 10:11, 27–28
We see in Acts 2:38 that if you repent and is baptised into the Name of Jesus Christ, you will receive the gift of Holy Spirit. This is very important.
Jesus’ promise to us: “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses… all over the world.” (Acts 1:8) And Jesus commanded them not to leave Jerusalem before they received the Holy Spirit.
This promise of the Holy Spirit is available for everyone that ever will be called by God to Himself—as He is calling you today. Holy Spirit will give to you foreign tongues to praise God and exclaim His greatness as well as to edify yourself. Please read Acts 2, and 1 Corinthians 12–14. After reading that, you will have courage to testify for Jesus and be His witness.
Whenever one of the sheep in the fold is sick, Jesus heals him, for He did carry our sicknesses and He did give us healing.
You just ask healing in the Name of Jesus; the Name of Jesus Christ always helps and heals, on the outside as well as on the inside. The Name of Jesus is very potent and strong medicine; no other medicine is nearly as strong as the Name of Jesus.
Yes, some other medicine does help sometimes, but the Name of Jesus helps always. That is why the Bible teaches us that we are healed by the stripes of Jesus. Just lay your hands on the hurt and say to your body: “Body, in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ, you are healed!”
When someone else asks you to pray for them for healing, you put your hands on the body and command it to be healed in the Name of Jesus. It will be healed.
When you teach someone to accept Jesus as Saviour, you also teach him to accept Him as Healer at the same time—and he will be saved and healed. You need to teach it to him, however.
Jesus is so very, very good!
If ever one of the sheep that Jesus bought for Himself strays outside the fold, then happens what Jesus tells in Luke 15; when a man have lost one sheep, he leaves the other sheep in the wilderness and go after the lost one until he finds it. Then he is so happy about finding the lost sheep, he puts it on his shoulders, rejoicing, and carries it back to the fold.
The thorn tree
All of the sins and bad things you did in your life—you did sin—were because you are a human being, for all people do sin. As it is written: “We all strayed like sheep, everyone going its own way.” “For all sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
Every person, whether he is a king, a captain, a slave, whether he is white or black, everyone sins, because he is a human being. Human beings not only sin, but they are sinners.
Like a thorn tree growing in your garden. A thorn tree bears thorns; why does it bear thorns? It bears thorns because it IS a thorn tree. When you cut off every thorn from that tree, it still remains a thorn tree. To cut off the thorns won’t make of it a fig tree—as long as that tree lives, it will stay a thorn tree.
Only when you cut down the tree and take out all of its roots to burn it, you can use the soil to plant another tree—a fig tree. And a fig tree won’t bear thorns.
The soil is the human body; the thorn tree is the sin-life within that body. The sin-life bears sins just like the thorn tree bears thorns. The fruit of the sin-life is sin.
The sin-life has to be cut out!
So, you just say to Jesus: “I no longer want this sin-life! I cast it away! Please, take it, Lord Jesus and burn it up with you in hell and then you come and live within me.”
Then Jesus plants that new, beautiful fig tree, His own life, in the soil that is your body, and you are a new creation bearing sweet fruit for other people to eat and enjoy.
This is what Jesus wants to do for you, as well as for each person on earth.
But why do I tell you this good news? Why do I pity you? Why do I want to help you? It is because Jesus Christ lives within me.
Once I too was a bottle full of dirty, muddy water, until I met Jesus. Then I too poured out that dirty sin-life and received Jesus and allowed Him to fill me with Himself, the clean, fresh and pure water of Life.
Now Christ lives in me.
The old life—the dirty water—is gone. I too was like a thorn tree, the sin-life that lived in my body. I cut that thorn tree down and cast it into hell and I received Jesus and asked Him to please come live in me and be my new life—which He did!
Now I am a fig tree bearing sweet fruit, and this fruit I’m offering you today.
My body still looks just the same on the outside, but it is a different life that lives within me—my spirit with my soul was born again by Jesus. The old life was burnt out in hell with Jesus; this new life doesn’t bear thorns; it bears figs.
This same Jesus Christ who loves you so very much that He died and went to hell in your place, now dwells in me, and that same Jesus living in me, loves you just as much!
This is why I’m telling it to you!
Real freedom
Always one hears people saying they want to be free. White people are blaming black people and black people are blaming white people, but most people are blaming the government because they are not free; things just don’t add up for you, and so you think it is because someone or something are oppressing you and doing you some injustice.
Some are blaming the past; some are blaming the present.
The problem is not the fault of someone else; the problem is that you are bound by your own sin; you are imprisoned by your own sin and that is why you are not free. You have to be saved from your own sin, and then only you really will be free.
All people, white and black, rich and poor, old and young, all need to be set free from their sin. It is a person’s own sin that keeps him in a prison of circumstances. You can’t see outside; you are bound.
You think it is the police that are wrong; you think it is the law that is wrong; you think everybody just wants to oppress you.
Everybody is crying: “We want to be free! Give us freedom!” And they think they want to be free from other people.
It is not other people that oppress you; it is the sin that is your life that oppresses you.
There is only one way to become free, and this is to accept and receive Jesus as your own, personal Saviour so He can free you from your prison of sin.
Only when Jesus saves you, you can be free—really free.
The thing people call “freedom” really is lawlessness. Then they are bound!
The kind of “freedom” for which people are murdering and are doing violence and crimes and for which the world is crying, is all but freedom. You can’t win your enemy by shooting him—you will give account to God.
If you really want to win your enemy, then tell him this good news of Jesus Christ and His love.
The moment he becomes born again by Jesus, he also is a new creation just like you, and then he is no longer your enemy; then he is your brother in Christ. He never again will do you any wrong!
Only through Jesus can anybody ever be free; free from sin, free from sickness; free from poverty; free from all the chains of sin and darkness that are binding him.
It is not the fault of other people when you are not free.
If by now you still did not accept Jesus as Saviour, then please, do it now! Then you too will be free.
It really is very difficult to live without Jesus; you need to do everything for yourself; you need to bear your own sufferings, illnesses and poverty—and the day you die you are still going to hell!
This is very bad news!
The good news is that when you accept and receive Jesus as your Life, then He cares for you; He will see to it that you have a good job, He will give you strength and health, and He will give in your heart love and joy and gratitude, instead of hate and rebellion.
Jesus will take away all the bad things you did in your life, for which you always were in trouble, like theft, lies, cursing, murder, drunkenness, dishonesty and all other sins—you will no longer WANT to do these things!
When Jesus is your life you are no longer a thorn tree that bears thorns, but a fig tree that bears figs. It is the different life within the tree that is bearing the new kind of fruit.
You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you FREE! Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Nobody comes to the Father, except through Jesus!
You need not be ashamed of Jesus; He is the King of all kings and the Lord of all lords. He is the Creator of the universe. Nothing to be ashamed of!
It is not worth it to keep friends who are children of the devil and are doing wrong things and are trying to get you back to their wrong ways. They will try, you can be sure about that, but this is only because they still don’t know the truth like you know it now. If you can’t win them over to Jesus, don’t allow them to drag you back to hell!
Blessings! Enjoy your new freedom in Christ!
